Blogue de la Bouche du tigre: Doors Open at the Ottawa Branch Centre

On June 1, the Ottawa Branch Centre was pleased to participate in Doors Open Ottawa, a free annual architectural event that is the second-largest in Canada, and one of the largest in the world!

While regular classes took place, visitors interested in the Taoist Tai Chi® arts watched participants do the Tai Chi set with a twinkle in their eyes, and took a tour of the practice hall while a video about our arts played. We used the opportunity to speak about our Founder Master Moy, the shrine dedicated to Guanyin and the four Star Deities displayed in the hall.

Some visitors tried their hand (or should we say their whole bodies) at the first three moves in the set and feeling the positive energy. Many declared an interest in coming to one of the seventeen locations in the Ottawa branch to take a beginning class.

Participants who volunteered throughout the day enjoyed the experience:

«Une belle opportunité de partager avec le public les arts de Tai Chi Taoist® et de voir l’interêt que les gens y portent. »

“A wonderful experience having our usual class then doing more sets while welcoming the community.  Loved it!”

“It was really nice to see members of the public trying the first three moves!  Also enjoyed seeing and listening to the video playing.”

« Quelle bonne idée de participer à Portes Ouvertes Ottawa! L’institut de taoïsme Fung Loy Kok est une organisation ouverte, nous l’avons montré en participant à cette journée, et nous l’avons montré toute la journée par notre accueil et notre courtoisie envers les visiteurs. »

“An excellent opportunity to connect with the public, share the practice of the Taoist Tai Chi® arts and promote harmony.”

“It is always a pleasure to meet and speak with people who have expressed an interest in what we do, to share our knowledge of the Taoist Tai Chi® arts and our joy in the practice of them.”
