The Tiger's Mouth Blog: Inner smile
In Taoist Tai Chi ® teachings, we are told to “smile from within”. I associate this with simple gestures such as holding a baby or playing with a young dog. The idea of spontaneous gestures that come from the heart and which are not forced, immediately made an impression on me. I simply have to do them, with all the joy that they bring. I can transfer this attitude to my practice at the Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism, as well as to every situation in my life.
For me, smiling from within is rediscovering the spontaneity of childhood. It means, for example, arriving at my Monday evening session to focus solely on the instructions given. I can then feel the lightness of the movement and all the pleasure it gives me.
Smiling inwardly and adding gentleness to my heart makes me more sensitive, more present.
